Just before Thanksgiving in 1999, an ad in the local paper caught my eye. The ad was for a Reiki Level 1 Class. I don't recall the exact wording, but I was drawn to make the call. Reiki Master Teacher Isabel Barton, LPN, spent an hour on the phone sharing with me how she came to know of and learn Reiki and how it changed her life. I couldn't wait to take the class!
In becoming attuned to Level 1 Reiki in the Usui tradition, I was given the ability to put my hands on myself and other people, as well as animals, plants, food, water, and anything else I could touch, to channel the universal life force to promote healing, relaxation, and well being. I knew that very day that I was supposed to be doing Reiki.
It seemed only natural to quickly progress through Reiki Level 2, Japanese Reiki Techniques, and Advanced Reiki Techniques. I was ready to be a Reiki Master! But, before I could take the class, there were requirements. I had to give and document many Reiki sessions, one of them on my teacher! Also, I had to write a paper on why I wanted to become a Reiki Master, and what I planned to do with my healing abilities. Then, and only then, did Isabel consent to teach me Reiki Level 3, the Master Level.
Two years later, I added Karuna Reiki® to my healing toolkit. I'm so glad I did, as the Karuna attunements and symbols made my channeling ability stronger and more powerful. This was a wonderful adjunct to the traditional Usui Reiki!
My healing arts education is ongoing. With the addition of Tong Ren and most recently Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) I am able to provide wonderful and more varied healing modalities for my clients. There is information on both of these modalities elsewhere on my site.
In another life, I spent 30 years in a corporate setting, working very hard at the same time to be a good wife, mother, and role model. I left the corporate world in 2004, taking with me many life lessons and many memories. I am blessed with a wonderful and supportive spouse, healthy and beautiful children and grandchildren, a dad in spirit who showed me that if I put the big stones in the bucket first, the little ones would fit in the spaces, a mother who taught me to be happy and positive, and lots of absolutely terrific friends!
In an effort to keep balance in my life, walking, hiking, biking, beaching, camping, and goofing off have their place as well. Fortunately, I have no trouble finding playmates to keep me company in these pastimes. Life is good!
If there's anything else you'd like to know about me, just ask. I'll probably tell you way more than you want to know.
Peace, Love, and Light,
